Name:

I was previously a constitutional law and civil rights litigator and am now a journalist. I am the author of three New York Times bestselling books -- "How Would a Patriot Act" (a critique of Bush executive power theories), "Tragic Legacy" (documenting the Bush legacy), and With Liberty and Justice for Some (critiquing America's two-tiered justice system and the collapse of the rule of law for its political and financial elites). My fifth book - No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA and the US Surveillance State - will be released on April 29, 2014 by Holt/Metropolitan.

Weblog Award Nomination

After just six weeks in existence, this blog has been named as a Finalist for the Weblog Awards in the category of Best New Blog of 2005 (for blogs created after November 19, 2004) .

Voting begins tomorrow and, according to the rules, each individual computer can be used to vote once every 24 hours. I'm not sure why that is the rule (as opposed to allowing each computer to vote only once over the life of the voting), but that's the rule, and I suspect that there will be at least a few voters taking advantage of that multiple-vote ability.

If you are so inclined, you can vote (beginning tomorrow), and can see all of the finalists, here.
